Bigger Nagzira-Navegaon reserve on cards
seeShelving the earlier plan of including only existing area of Nagzira-Navegaon in proposed tiger reserve, the wildlife wing has now come up with a much more conservation oriented plan of creating a 556.12 sq km reserve for the big cats.
This will be done by including adjoining forests that come under territorial wing and Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM) area. The new proposal includes 251.56 sq km area of Navegaon national park and 304.56 of Nagzira wildlife sanctuary. Thus, an additional area of 117.68 sq km will be added to Navegaon and 151.75 sq km will be added to Nagzira.
